A Community portrait project

Faces of vic park

Every suburb has a soul. In Victoria Park, it lives in the faces of the people who call it home. Faces of Vic Park is a photographic documentary project that sets out to capture those faces, one portrait at a time, and bring them together in a single community exhibition that reflects the true diversity and warmth of this corner of Perth.

About the project

Faces of Vic Park is a long form community portrait project based in Victoria Park, Perth. The aim is to find  people who live, work or belong to the suburb, photograph them on location in the places that matter most to them, and bring every portrait together in a single public exhibition.

Every subject is photographed in their own environment, whether that is their home, their workplace, their favourite park or the corner cafe they have been going to for  years.

How it started

In March 2026, I pitched this project at Vic Park Soup, Arts Edition, in front of a live community audience. The response was immediate. People wanted to be involved, and help in many way possible. That night the project stopped being just an idea and became something real.

Who can be involved ?

Anyone who lives, works or spends meaningful time in Victoria Park. No age, background or experience required. If Vic Park is part of your life in any way, you belong in this project.

If you want to help in any way, whether that is volunteering your time, helping identify people in the community who should be part of this project, or simply spreading the word to someone who might want to be involved, I would love to hear from you.

The venue is not confirmed yet. Exhibition dates are yet to be confirmed and will be announced through this site and social media.

Community behind the project

Faces of Vic Park has been supported from the very beginning by some of the most connected and generous organisations in Victoria Park. Here is how each of them has helped bring this vision to life.

Vic Park Collective

The Vic Park Collective hosted the Soup event and coordinated the funding transfer to the project. They have been compiling nominations of community members to feature, from local volunteers to business owners and everyday icons of the suburb.

Town of Victoria Park

The Town of Victoria Park contributed $2,000 to the project through their Arts Season funding. They have also been actively helping identify community members to feature and will receive acknowledgment and logo placement at the exhibition.

Victoria Park Centre for the Arts

The Victoria Park Centre for the Arts has come forward to help identify potential portrait subjects from across the arts community. Their support is helping move the project toward the exhibition phase.
